Best A2 ghee brands in India: how to choose (2026)

The ‘best’ A2 ghee isn’t the one with the loudest ad — it’s the one that can prove it. Here are the five things that separate a genuine brand from a pretty label, and how to judge any brand yourself.

HomeGhee guideBest A2 ghee brands

The short answer

There are dozens of A2 ghee brands in India, and most make the same claims — ‘pure’, ‘A2’, ‘bilona’. The ones worth your money are the few that can prove it: a named source, a batch-wise lab report, a real bilona process, and a named A2 breed. Judge brands on proof, not promises — the checklist below works for any of them.

Why this beats a ‘top 10’ list

Brand rankings go stale and are easy to game. A checklist you can apply yourself never does — run any brand (including ours) through these five points and the truth shows quickly.

A quick way to decide

Before you pay, ask

✓ Can they name the village and breed?
✓ Can you download a batch lab report?
✓ Is there a real video of the churning?
✓ Is there a founder and face behind it?
✓ Are the prices honest for true bilona (not suspiciously cheap)? See the price guide.

Where we stand

How Buranshvalley meets its own checklist

We’d rather show than claim. Buranshvalley ghee is made in Maitoli — a village in the Berinag block of Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand — at about 6,100 feet. It’s hand-churned by a group of [__] women-led households, led by Manju Bhatt, from grass-fed Pahadi Badri cows that graze freely in the surrounding buransh & oak forests.

Every batch ships with a third-party lab report and a batch code on the jar, the bilona process is real and on video, and the breed and source are named — not ‘Himalayan’, but Maitoli. That’s the standard we think every brand should be held to.

Our promise

Named village. Named breed. Named founder. Batch-wise lab report. If a detail isn’t verifiable, we don’t print it. [FSSAI Lic. ____ — to be added]

FAQ

Which is the best A2 ghee brand in India?
The best brand for you is the one that can prove purity, breed and method — use the 5-point checklist above rather than a generic ranking.
How do I know an A2 ghee brand is genuine?
Named source + batch lab report + bilona video + named breed + a real founder. Missing any of these is a warning sign.
Is a cheaper A2 ghee ever the same quality?
Genuine bilona has a real cost — very cheap ‘bilona’ usually isn’t. See the price guide.
What makes Buranshvalley different?
A named village (Maitoli), Pahadi Badri breed, women-led making, and a batch lab report in every box.
